Pyrolysis furnaces for thermal cleaning processes in plastics industry

DIABLO and SANTANA "Heated Atmosphere" systems, are efficient and user friendly pyrolysis ovens with an accurately controlled atmosphere, designed for surface treatment of metals, specifically paint stripping, plastic removal, degreasing and rubber denuding.
Organic contamination evaporates and oxidises in a safely controlled low oxygen reactor chamber, efficiently sealed to guarantee accurate atmosphere control. Operating temperatures are between 320°-480°C. The cleaning cylce time is 2 to 6 hours, depending on the degree of polymer, paint or other coating and can be programmed in the PLC.
To meet with the stringent environmental legislation, Diablo and Santana pyrolysis ovens are standard equipped with an after-burner in order to treat the flue gases. No water is used to clean the flue gases, so no wastewater issues. The post-combustion chamber is intergrated into the compact design. An exhaust fan ensures the discharge of the cooled cleaned exhaust gases. As a result, it is not necessary to provide an insulated chimney.

Diablo(S) compact pyrolysis oven

Diablo (S) are very compact and electrically heated pyrolysis ovens, recommended for cleaning of small tools, especially for the removal of polymers like PP, PE, PVC. Typical use is cleaning nozzles, extrusion dies, spinnerets, filters, spinpacks. The compact design, PLC control and pneumatic operated door makes it fully automatic and therefore very easy to use. Moreover Diabo (S) pyrolysis ovens are safe for user and for the parts-to-clean, have short cycle times and need very little maintainance: a simple and straightforward cleaning principle.

Diablo(L) pyrolysis oven for nozzle and screw cleaning

Diablo (L)
are electrically heated pyrolysis ovens, designed especially for screw cleaning, without disassembling the screw. Screws for extrusion, screws from injection molding are cleaned in a low oxygen environment without any risk of deformation . Cycle time is 1,5 to 4 hours. The screw cleaning equipment is available from 2 up to 7 meter. The door is operated pneumatically, which is very safe for the operator and guarantees gas tightness during the cyle. A postcombustion is integrated in the compact design to meet with all environmental standards.

Santana(A)- industrial pyrolysis oven

Santana (A) pyrolysis ovens are heated with gas, given their large volume, usually used for cleaning large(r) parts. The door slides completely out of the cleaning chamber and is easily accessible from both sides of the loading platform, using a hoisting system or forklift to load the parts. Santana pyrolysis ovens are designed for paint stripping and removal of plastic, resing or removing any organic coating from large metal tools and parts. Typical cleaning time is 5 to 10 hours, depending on the load of coating and the amount of parts.

Applications of thermal cleaning with pyrolysis

  • thermal cleaning of injection molding systems,
  • cleaning of spinnerets, screens, nozzles, spin beam
  • cleaning of extrusion die, breaker plates, screws
  • cleaning blow moulding parts
  • hot-runner cleaning, electrical motor cleaning,
  • paintstripping of hooks and racks, jigs

Working principle of a industrial pyrolysis ovens for thermal-cleaning

-The termperature control as well as the atmosphere inside the cleaning reactor are accurately controlled by an integrated programmed logic controller (PLC) for fast and thorough cleaning.

-Prior to insertion of the parts, the reactor of the pyrolysis oven can be pre-heated up to a stand by temperature or one can choose to load the parts-to-clean in cold condition.

-The loading frame (pneumatic door) slides out of the cleaning chamber when operated. The loading frame is now easily accessible from different sides to (un)load the contaminated parts. Now parts can be put on to a loading platform manually or using a forklift.

-Multiple cleaning cylces can be programmed. The appropriate cycle is tapped on the touchscreen and the door is closed. The cleaning cycle starts automatically. When the cycle has come to its end, depending on the programmed parameters, the unit resumes stand-by operation and the cleaned parts can be unloaded, or cool down .

-The cycle itself can be freely programmed by a six stage cycle. Each stage of the cycle can be activated or tuned off, especially skipping the heat up phase and/or melting phase.
